Here’s Alexis’ story:

“I believe in evolution but it’s hard to believe I personally evolved from hunter gatherers.

Whenever I watch a movie or tv show where someone is stranded somewhere remote or forced to fend for themselves in the wilderness I can’t help thinking that I wouldn’t last a day.  I can’t start a fire.  I don’t know what plants are poisonous.  And I really can’t hunt.

Sometimes I wonder if these instincts are dormant somewhere in my psyche.  If I were placed in that situation, would the old survival genes kick in?  I think not.”

Start reading!!!
The day will come where you’ll wish you had a little ‘fend for yourself-ishness’. Maybe not “survivalist”, but at least “start a fire” kind of stuff.

Interesting. It’s so foreign to us. Being able to live off the land. I think this is why certain motifs are very popular now: deer, trees, birds. It’s nostalgia of nature and wilderness which we are so spiritually, physically and practically separated from.
