#0110 | a loquacious bush
Submitted by Anshula in Storrs, Connecticut.
Here’s Anshula’s story:
“One of the freshman rites of passage at my university involves taking a series of required humanities courses that most students loathe.
Secretly, I’m really having fun with a comparative religion class. Not having been raised in the Judeo-Christian tradition, I’m always struck by how many parts of the religion sound so very weird. We were assigned to read selected passages from the Bible and it’s so user-unfriendly. Not only is the language fantastic, but some of the tales are just unbelievable. I just read it and think, “A talking, burning bush? Really?”
Then I realized that this must be how most of my friends see my religion, or any religion that is different from their own, and I know there are a lot of things I believe that are probably just as ‘unbelievable.’”
