Here’s Anonymous’ story:

“As the Presidential election campaign swings into high gear and the mud slinging between candidates increases, it seems like focus drifts further and further away from the war we are fighting in the Middle East.

My husband followed his father’s footsteps to serve in the armed forces.  The pain of having him so far away from me under such uncertain circumstances is made all the worse by the fact that–at least in terms of the national debate–our country seems to be forgetting that we’re still wrapped up in ‘that mess.’

Tonight the President gave the State of the Union and made it sound as though things couldn’t be going better in Iraq.  He failed to mention that five Americans, people like my husband and his father, had died in combat that day.”
