Here’s Anonymous’ story:
Like this haiku? Buy us a cafe con leche!“I’m sort of the black sheep of my family, the one who is just a little bit odd in comparison to the rest of the bunch. They say “the nut doesn’t fall far from the tree,” but there must have been a mighty gust when this nut was dropping down to the ground. Most of the time it doesn’t matter much, family being family, but there is one difference I still have a tough time dealing with.
My brothers, father, and grandfather (and probably his father before him) are all avid hunters. They apply for their permits and eagerly anticipate the start of hunting season. They have special rifles with special bullets and ugly little vests they wear when they are out “sporting.”
I find the whole thing reprehensible and cannot understand the allure of hunting at all. It is tough for me to accept the fact that people who share so much of my DNA are turned on by something I find criminally barbaric. Despite the passion behind my protests, I know they will never be enough to keep the guns on the shelf, and acceptance never gets any easier.”
