#0060 | my quarters are gone

Submitted by Amanda in Helena, Montana.

Here’s Amanda’s story:

“Why is it that every time I dry my clothes in a commercial dryer (the kind that takes quarters) they never come out dry?  I’ve never had that happen in a regular dryer at somebody’s house. Why is one cycle never, ever, ever enough?

I’m so naïve too, every time I think it will be the time I’ll actually have some dry towels come out of the dryer, but nooo … it will spew out dampness.  It messes me up on the coin collecting too. The guy at the 7/11 refuses to give me quarters and then I’m stuck with no change and unusable towels.  For the love of God dryer machine manufacturers – make those things do their job!”

She needs to find a laundromat that charges more for the wash, but lets you dry for free. To wit:

It’s more expensive
But to have some dry towels
Makes the trip worth it.

I know exactly what you mean! Except my frustrations are not only with launderettes but also with my own (old, dilapidated) dryer at my house. It seriously takes three times to dry anything. But before I had a dryer, paying twice to dry my clothes was pretty much the bane of my existence. Stay strong!
