Here’s Alex’s story:

“Last week I moved into my college dorm room a few days early for job training. For three days I was by myself: none of my friends were there yet, no family, no boyfriend, no roommate. It was spectacular.

My college is located right in the middle of the cutest little town, and every evening after work I would take a stroll. I went to the library, to the ice cream shop, out to eat. I was all by myself and completely comfortable with the fact. Being surrounded by the summer evening, feeling nothing but contentment and peace, was a treasure that I will never forget.”

That is definitely a wonderful feeling. There does come a point, however, when being alone can drive you crazy. Loneliness does weird things to people.
