Here’s Mark’s story:

“I have a friend who recently graduated from college and is searching for direction.

She flew through high school with top grades and worked her butt off in college to graduate, again, with top grades.  We live in western Oregon and she comes from a hard working family with a large extended family that is close.  She spent a semester in New Zealand studying, and loved the experience abroad, and is now in Ireland for 4 months to work and see parts of Europe.

I’ve lived in a number of States and have traveled a bit in Europe and Central America.  I’d really like to see her leave the small town life behind.  I went to high school in a small town in Connecticut and 90% of my high school classmates are still within driving distance of that school.   This is a person with confidence, ability, creativity and intelligence but I think her family is holding her back in some ways.  I also think that she is a bit unsure on venturing out, which is understandable.

She and I have talked about this quite a bit but perhaps a haiku would help…”

I love the parachutes and their many lines in this haiku!
