Erin’s story:
Oh Howard Dean, my special moment in time.
My boyfriend Cliff and I were in Maryland for his uncle’s inauguration (he’s a politician) when Howard Dean rolled up to the party with a bright, shiny white smile. Cliffy’s mom asked us, “Do you want your picture taken with Howard Dean?” and we said “Yes please!”
She marched right up to him but he was busy talking to politicians. This didn’t bother her and proceeded to tap him on the shoulder repeatedly saying “Excuse me! Excuse me!”
Howard Dean was very busy, see, and kind of ignored her, but she just kept right on with the tapping and “Excuse me! Excuse me!” Finally, Howard Dean rolled his eyes, turned around, and took a damn picture of us… and we were the happiest kids in the world!

really this is the best howard dean-inspired haiku i have ever read! really.
But the first line is six syllables…..
… or is it? : )
It’s five syllables. If it were, “How-ard Dean is bus-y” it would be six, but it’s, “How-ard Dean’s bus-y” and is therefore five.
I apologize, I’m an English major.
Erin, Karen was right–when this first went up it was “is” not “’s”. Thanks to her vigilance, we made things right. Something must’ve been lost in the Danny to Nina pipeline on that one ; )

or you could just say Dean’s busy. but that would be just two syllables.
miguel’s got a lot of time on his hands.
Now if he could just get a clue as well as a haiku we’d all be better off.
